Andes and Beyond 2012
Music and Cultural Program in Cusco, Peru
(June 29-July 13)
The Center sponsors cultural tours and study abroad workshops in several areas of the world. After successfully launching our first summer workshop in the Andes of Peru in 2011, we offer a second program in 2012 to include spectacular Inca ruin sites and workshops in Andean folklore and indigenous musical styles with local experts. We are pleased to also offer an optional extension (July 13-17) to El Carmen, the cradle of Afro-Peruvian music, for the Virgin of Carmen Festival and workshops with the well-known Ballumbrosio and Carrillo families.
The Program Director and Tour Leader, Holly Wissler, has over thirty years experience designing and guiding tours in Peru and holds a Ph.D. in ethnomusicology with focus on indigenous Andean music.
