Andes and Beyond 2010
Summer Programs in Cusco, Peru
(June 27 - July 20)
The Center sponsors cultural tours and hands-on workshops in several areas of the world. This year we will be offering our very first Summer Workshop in the Andes of Peru, to include spectacular Incan ruin sites and the Paucartambo Dance Festival. The Program Director and Tour Leader, Holly Wissler, has over twenty-five years experience guiding tours in Peru and holds a Ph.D. in ethnomusicology with focus on indigenous Andean music.

- Regular classes in Andean traditional and folklore music and dance with local experts
- Regular classes in Afro-Peruvian and criollo music and dance with local experts
- Special guest presentations on regional and indigenous styles of music and dance
- Excursions to the Sacred Valley of the Incas and various Incan ruins, including Machu Picchu
- An Offering Ceremony to the mountain spirits and Mother Earth with ritual specialists from the Quechua community of Q'eros
- A culmination concert with all participants and local teachers at the Peruvian-North American Cultural Institute in Cusco
- Four days at the Paucartambo Dance Festival
