IMPORTANT INFORMATION: The Cultural Tour to Indonesia has been offered by the Center for World Music every year since 1976. Most participants enjoy its broad scope and relaxed approach, and there have been quite a few repeat customers. The Indonesian people are famous for their friendliness and hospitality, and by using common sense you can normally avoid the stomach upsets or other minor illnesses that often occur on a tourist itinerary abroad. You will be able to relax and enjoy your Indonesian visit knowing that our health batting rate on these tours is usually very high.

Although the tour has always emphasized the traditional performing arts of Indonesia, we do also see many of the main tourist attractions in Central Java and Bali. In addition we visit artists in their homes, go to schools of music, dance, and theater, and view some unique special performances that are not available on ordinary tours. Because of Indonesia's rich and varied artistic traditions, many people feel that the performing arts offer a highly satisfying approach to the diverse cultures that are to be found there. Some free time has been set aside for shopping, beach visits, or other pursuits that are not part of the regular group activities.

Before you can board the flight in Los Angeles you are required to have a passport valid for at least an additional six months. Sixty-day tourist visas are automatically issued to citizens of most North American or European countries at the port of entry in Indonesia. No shots are required, but you may wish to check with your doctor for his/her recommendations. Malaria has been eradicated from the areas we visit. As previously stated, a detailed information sheet will be sent out later to all participants, offering advice about climate, clothing, packing, and health, as well as departure information.

Each participant is responsible for personal accident, health and travel insurance and by signing below acknowledges the intention to provide it. Your signature absolves the Center for World Music and its Directors of any future responsibility for illness or accident during the period of the tour.

IMPORTANT: The areas we plan to visit (the island of Bali and Central Java) have not been areas of social unrest during the past year, unlike a few other places in Indonesia.  In the unlikely event that this situation should change, we will revise the itinerary, or in the worst case scenario, cancel the trip and refund your money.
