Sudakshina Alagia
Currently a disciple of renowned vocalist Lakshmi Shankar, Sudakshina has been trained in classical singing since 1989. In 2000 she received the top award in the International Bhajan Sandhya Competition (USA Canada Chapter) held in Los Angeles. She has been the vocalist for an Indian TV serial and for the Discovery channel. She was also the lead singer for an Oddisi dance production for Patnaik Sisters and vocalist for the Bharatnatyam dance drama "Shyama" presented in several US cities. She has given concerts in many US cities including Ali Akbar Music College in Bay Area. Currently she teaches music (and biology) in San Diego area. The Laboni and Shalini will perform Odissi classical dance, the beautifully costumed temple dance of east India along with their visiting teacher from India, Yudhisthir Nayak. The Patnaiks have performed nationally and internationally. Yudhisthir Nayak has participated in many national dance festivals in India and Canada. He has choreographed many dance dramas in Odissi style.
