The Patnaik Sisters with Aruna

and a live orchestra from India

The Patnaik sisters, Laboni, Shibani, and Shalini, with internationally
renowned visiting artist Aruna Mohanty, will perform Odissi, the
classical, lyrical, and beautifully costumed temple dance of east
India, accompanied by a live orchestra. The Patnaik’s have
performed nationally and internationally. Recently, they danced
with Madonna in a piece they coreographed for the 1998 MTV Music
Video Award ceremony.
Musicians accompanying the dancers will include Guru Gangadhar
Pradhan, mardal; Ghanashyama Panda, vocal; Ramesh Das, violin; Jyoti
Mishra, sitar; and Manoranjan Pradhan, cymbals.
